COUNTRY PROFILE
FAMS acquired the DSV Mauritius business in April 2019. All DSV staff transferred across to FAMS and the continuity of the business was assured through FAMS operating at the same premises: The Mauritius Freeport and Sir Seewoosagur International Airport. Concurrently with the acquisition, FAMS signed an exclusive agency agreement to represent DSV across the Indian Ocean Islands region.
UTI commenced operations in Mauritius in 2002 and was acquired by DSV in 2016. Throughout the ownership changes, employees have continued long term, to ensure retention of operational expertise and to provide continuity of customer service.
Today, FAMS delivers a variety of freight logistics services; imports and exports; across the Indian Ocean islands. As examples, specialized project freight knowledge has recently been applied to import and deliver 18 trams to support the Mauritius Tramway project. As well as this, FAMS runs its own consolidated ocean freight containers for the Retail sector. These containers run from Madagascar through deliveries across multiple locations in the Far East.
The FAMS company is based in the heart of Port Louis with premises close to the Port and the ocean freight carriers. Post acquisition, FAMS has invested in vehicles to conduct airfreight deliveries, and continues to out-source ocean freight deliveries to vetted specialist transportation companies. From the base in Port Louis, FAMS offers pan Indian Ocean island customs clearance, freight delivery & pick-up solutions, through dedicated Island Traffic Controllers.
FAMS is a member of the Mauritius Export Association and the Professional Association of Freight Forwarders in Mauritius.
